How to make clients respond faster for story opportunities

We often come across a situation when we have an opportunity to
participate in an important story; you send the opportunity to the
clients and request responses from the client. And then nothing
happens…. Client does not respond, you call, sms, send email reminders
but nothing…. No response at all…

What do you do in such situation, obviously we can’t do out jobs well
if we don’t have cooperation when implementing our actions.

I would like to know from members of this list about effective ways to
“train” a client in timely response and feedback — as you can only
leave them so many e-mails, messages and voicemails explaining that
they will lose a cover/feature story opp. if they don’t get back
before the deadline date.
